heleentje and I mentioned doing a Great YGO Rewatch a bit ago in Nov/Dec before I went on hiatus, and now it turns out that starting February 7, 2015, the original DM series is being aired, completely HD remastered. How complete? We’ll have to wait and see, maybe they’ll actually redraw the Memory Arc like we’ve all wanted for years. Either way, I thought this would be the best time to start the GYGORW (acronym pending review).

I’m not sure how frequently the DM series is airing, but I imagine it will be more than once a week (probably every morning, so 7 eps a week given it starts on a Saturday) to complete the airing before the new movie in 2016. I propose we start with DM as the new remaster airs and then continue our way through the franchise: GX –> 5Ds –> BBT –> Zexal –> Arc V. 

Clearly this is not going to be a fast endeavor, what with nearly 15 years of material to make our way through, but a challenge like this is far more fun with friends. Personally, I can’t commit to live-watching all the episodes together, and given the various timezones that’d probably be impossible anyway. What I am envisioning, though, and please provide ideas, is some sort of forum, chat room, or group tumblr account where we can meet up at a specific time and review/discuss a set number of episodes.

Sort of like a book club: go watch these 5 or so episodes at some point during the week, we convene over the weekend to talk. This way everyone can use their own time the way they need, skip weeks with episodes that don’t appeal to them/have time for, and we can capture the group’s analysis/discussion for later review.
